FAQs

What is the vision and core beliefs of The Greater Treasure Island Association (TGTIA)?

Our vision is to be a community of residents working together to improve and preserve the distinctive character of Treasure Island.  We believe that change is inevitable, but growth is optional.  We believe that residents committed to collaborating in an open-minded manner will build a stronger community.

Why should I become a TGTIA member, what’s in it for me?

We believe that residents working with city staff and our elected officials can shape the direction of Treasure Island in ways that will benefit the entire community.  Your membership provides you with a unique opportunity to take an active role in critical decisions impacting our future.

What are the annual dues?

The annual membership fee is $25.  We welcome our members to make periodic donations to the organization in order to cover operating expenses.

Will the TI Community benefit from TGTIA and my membership?

Absolutely!  By working together with city staff and our elected officials, we can capitalize on opportunities and manage challenges.  The result will be a more beautiful and more sustainable Treasure Island for future generations.

If I become a member, am I expected to volunteer and attend any meetings?

Our members are expected to be informed by attending monthly meetings whenever possible.  Attendance is not mandatory.  Additionally, our members are expected to participate on committees and task forces, if their time permits.

When and where does TGTIA Board of Directors meet?

TGTIA Board of Directors meeting are usually held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6pm, in the City Hall Auditorium.  These meetings are open to all members.

Who are the Board of Directors?

The Board of Directors consists of 15 Treasure Island residents, who possess a variety of skills and experience.  The list of current Board members can be found here.

What makes TGTIA different and distinct from other TI organizations?

Unlike other local organizations that may represent businesses or single issue items in the city, TGTIA is the only organization representing you as a resident on a variety of issues impacting the future of Treasure Island.

If I have an idea, suggestion or recommendation about improving Treasure Island, how to I communicate that to TGTIA?

Input from members is always welcomed and encouraged.  Suggestions and recommendations can be made during the monthly Board of Director meetings; by contacting a Board member; or by providing input through the contact form of TGTIA website (here).

If I am interested in volunteering what should I do?

We encourage you to submit your application and membership fee.  You may contact a Board member or submit a volunteer application through our volunteer page (here).

Does TGTIA accept donations?

TGTIA is an all-volunteer organization.  We welcome donations and in-kind support from the community.
